How to vote
Everything you need to know before you go to the ballot box, in order. Scroll, and we will draw each step together.
Step 1 of 8
Check that your name is on the list
1
Check that your name is on the list
To vote, your name must be written on the voter list. Anyone whose name is not on it cannot vote. The voter lists were posted for inspection on 12–14 October; if you are not sure, ask the Gebze Chamber of Commerce or the District Election Board.
2
Go to the ballot box
On Tuesday 3 November, between 09:00 and 17:00, go to Gebze Vocational and Technical Anatolian High School. The school is opposite the Gebze Chamber of Commerce. Voters still queuing at 17:00 can vote too.
3
Show your ID
The ballot box committee checks your identity. An ID document issued by the chamber or exchange, or by an official institution, is enough.
If you vote on behalf of a company
You also need an authorization certificate or a registry confirmation obtained from the Trade Registry within the last 90 days. A photocopy stays with the head of the ballot box committee.
4
Sign next to your name
Once your identity is confirmed, the committee finds your name on the list and you sign next to it. A vote cast without a signature is invalid.
5
Take the sealed envelope
The committee gives you an envelope; a separate envelope is used for each professional group. It must carry the seal of the District Election Board. A vote put in an unsealed envelope is invalid.
6
Fill in the ballot in the closed booth
The voting area is closed, and your vote is secret. Write the names of the Mavi Liste candidates on the ballot and put it in the envelope. Do not put a sequence number next to the names, and do not write your name or any mark that could identify you on the ballot. If you get stuck, ask the ballot box committee.
If a candidate is a company
Write the company’s title as it appears in the Trade Registry.
7
Drop the envelope in the box
Seal the envelope and drop it into the box in front of the ballot box committee. After the polls close, the votes are counted openly, in everyone’s sight.
8
Results and the second stage
In the first stage, members elect the professional committees and the chamber assembly. The chairman and the members of the board are then elected by the assembly: this vote takes place on Wednesday 11 November, 10:00–14:00, at the GTO service building. The delegates to the general assembly and the disciplinary board are also elected at this stage.
In case of a tie
If the votes for chairman are tied, a second round between the two candidates with the most votes is held the same day, 15:00–17:00.
The voting procedure follows the Organ Elections Regulation of the Union of Chambers and Commodity Exchanges of Türkiye (TOBB); the date, hours and place are those in the calendar announced by the Gebze 1st District Election Board. If anything changes, the Election Board’s notice prevails.
